I’ve long been interested in the art of the interview and over the past few years I’ve used the excuse of magazine interviews to have long and in-depth conversations with some of my heroes. It wasn’t complete subterfuge, they were published, its just that I am not by any means a journalist and was very much learning on the job.
So I am keen to use this blog to republish some of my old interviews and as a platform for new ones. With that thought in mind I’ve been thinking about what technology to utilise. Previously I’ve thrust a Sony hand held tape recorder in the face of Richard Wurman and sent the tape off to a typist in Australia to transcribe it. I’ve balanced an iPod and Belkin mike on my knee as I’ve wobbbled about trying to interview Gaetano Pesce while balanced on one of his La Mamma chairs and when technology has failed me completely I have madly scribbled notes while on a conference call to the Bouroullec brothers.
And then tonight I saw this video on PSFK. Doh, so obvious. I’ll be downloading Skypecap and trying this out soon;
